Pleasant Hill, Iowa is located approximately seven miles east of downtown Des Moines on Des Moines' eastern boundary. US Census Bureau 2005 estimated population for Pleasant Hill was 6,961, an increase of 37.3% since 2000.
Pleasant Hill is situated at the intersection of Iowa 163 and US Highway 65, the Des Moines Metro's eastside circumferential highway. Recent growth has made it a very popular location for those who work either downtown or on the east side of the Des Moines Metro area.

Pleasant Hill was incorporated as a city on May 12, 1956 but has been a settlement since the mid 19th century.
